Recording a call-off or a no-show

Cancelling an assignment keeps the row and marks it — it does not erase the fact that somebody was scheduled. That matters twice: the shift becomes fillable again, and the fairness report can still see who was flexed off and who called off.

Deleting instead would quietly rewrite history, and the record of who has covered what is the thing that settles arguments.
