How do I add a shift?

Open Schedule and go to the week you want. In the row of buttons above the grid, press Add a shift. Give it a name, pick the day, the From and To times, the role and how many people it needs, then press Add the shift. It appears on the grid with its places open, ready for somebody to be put on it. If the Role list is empty, add a role on Plan a week first: a shift is always for a role.

A To time earlier than the From time is the next morning, so 17:00 to 08:00 is an overnight. For a weekend block that runs Friday to Monday, start it on Friday and choose Ends: 3 days later.

Tick On call when the person is reachable rather than on site; the shift carries the OC mark, and an on-call shift does not count against the longest-single-shift rule.

Tick Repeat it, as a rota to make the same shift on chosen weekdays for up to twelve weeks, shared out among the people you tick: each turn goes to whoever has had the fewest on-call shifts, and every rule is checked as it is filled. Under Each turn is you choose one day, a weekend (Saturday and the Sunday after), Sunday and the following Saturday, or a whole week. Untick everyone to create the shifts open.

Plan a week makes every shift a unit or a clinic needs, by role, in one go. Repeat last week copies an earlier week with its people. Somebody who works the same days every week gets a Standing week on their staff record instead. All of these make the same shifts on the same grid, so you can mix them.
